Write

The old adage about the pen being mightier than the sword is true. Take the ‘s’ from the front of ‘sword’ and move it to the back… and you get ‘words’. There are no accidents in the Universe, least of all with language and the sounds and meanings of words.

Especially in a day and age where actual written (even wordprocessed) letters are rapidly becoming a thing of the past, they are mightier than ever.  It is so easy to put out a ‘form email’ that people can just click on to sign and send, that many recipients pay them mininmal attention.

So take the time to actually put your own thoughts down, and send them to someone who can make a difference.  Here’s a list of good recipients for your swords.

  • Elected federal representatives
  • State or local officials
  • Your local newspaper’s Letters to the Editor
  • CEO, president, or Public Relations at your local utility company
  • Auto company executives

The above list is just for starters. ClimateCorps editors have at it and expand the list! ClimateCorps members, become editors. Make the request with the Contact Us link.
