Television
Here’s a shocking statistic. It is estimated that 75% of the energy that a typical television will consume during its lifetime will be consumed when it appears to be off! Televisions are kept ‘warm’ for the dubious ‘convenience’ of coming on 10 or 15 seconds quicker. While the energy to keep them warm is much less than when they are fully on, they spend far more time in the ‘off’ condition. Thus most of a television’s lifetime energy consumption occurs when it is ‘off.’
How do you plug this vast ‘leak’ of energy, waste of money, and excess CO2 emissions? Use a power strip to ensure that your television is really off when not in use.
