Paper

There many ways we can be more sustainable with regard to our paper use. For instande, we can

  • Recycle all the paper you use.  This is something you can do personally, at school, at work, or be an activist at the community or citywide level.  Assess your situation.  Rise to your highest potential.  Some communities only recycle certain types of paper.  Recycle those for sure, but push the authorities to start programs for more types.  Some offices and schools recycle paper well, some less well, and some not at all.  Do your thing to raise awareness and recycling wherever you can.
  • Paper Purchasing - make a special effort to buy recycled paper and paper products.  We say ‘special effort’ since labels must be checked, and sometimes stores do not carry much or even any recycled paper.  If not, see a manager and ask them to carry these products.  Create and expand the market by your personal choices.
  • Use the paper more wisely.  For instance, make better use of the paper you print on by using both sides (see Duplexing), smaller margins, printing small documents 2 or more to a page and splitting the pages, etc.

Each of these warrants a page of its own.
