Greenwash

Here’s another page on the broader sustainability issue, and a warning page at that! The term ’greenwash’ refers to the practice of ‘talking the talk’ without ‘walking the walk’ or worse, walking in the opposite direction. Companies, governments, individuals, and organizations of all kinds may be guilty of this ‘crime against nature’. It may sound like strong language to call it that, but it is a crime of deception, usually motivated by greed, guilt, or some other negative emotion, in a ‘high stakes’ game of the survival of life on earth.

We recently found this interesting link to the ‘Greenwash of the Week’ on the website of the Rainforest Action Network.

Here are other interesting links on the greenwashing that is going on. Be a critical thinker! Don’t get fooled by hypocrisy (or worse).

As another example of greenwash we offer you the ‘eco-shape’ bottle, used by various sub-brands of Nestle bottled water. There is NOTHING green about bottling water in single-use, disposable plastic, shipping it hundreds or perhaps thousands of miles, and then promoting the bottle shape as a ‘greener alternative’. The whole concept of bottled water is ‘eco-terrorism’ it has been noted. Selling the bottle design as ‘green’ is yet another fraud perpetrated on society. So that we don’t get sued by Nestle for our opinions, we’ll leave it to you to do a simple search on ‘eco-shape bottle’ rather than lead you to one particular website promoting the farce.
