Even how you eat affects global warming. Now people’s eating habits are somewhat of a ‘sacred cow’ (no pun intended), but if you are willing to really consider the impact of all your actions and habits…
- Here’s a great article on the impact of meat eating and global warming, The less meat you eat and the more fruits, vegetables, grains, etc. that you eat instead, the lower your ‘carbon footprint’ becomes. No, we’re not saying everyone has to stop eating meat. But there are a raft of good environmental reasons to reduce your intake of meat products. - Eating organic foods reduces your carbon footprint too. Watch out for companies that play fast and loose with the term ‘natural’. Need to find food co-ops, sources of organic foods, health-conscious restaurants… try Local Harvest, Eat Well Guide, and Eat Wild.

- Local foods save a major amount of fossil fuel by not needing to be carted half way around the world. In fact, the phrase ’food miles’ was coined for the concept, and estimates for the distance that an average food item travels varies from 1,000 up to as much as 5,000 miles.
