Admittedly, commuting to work by bicycle is not for everyone. But if it is an option for you, think seriously about it. But there’s more to this topic than just that.

  • Find the local or state administrator in charge of transportation matters (call the general information line). Then call or write to ask what is being done to make your area safer for bicycling. Urge them to do more. Offer some of the links provided here!
  • Call/write/email your local and state legislators. They set up the ‘rules’ that are then administered. Insist that they create bicycle friendly policies for areas under their control.

  • BikeWalk.org is the website of the National  Center for Bicycling & Walking. It’s a good resource to draw upon.

It is a shame that bicycling is regarded only as a children’s pastime or sport. It is a viable mode of transportation. A billion Chinese can’t be all wrong. The shame is that our culture is coming to overwhelm the Chinese, where automobile sales are some of the strongest on earth.
